Sims 2 Performance - Don't laugh!

Hi Guys,

With The Sims 3 just around the corner (until they delayed it) I put the Sims 2 on my computer for my girlfriends little sister to play, and i have to admit i gave it a go and got sucked in!

What i want to know is, i have the specs as seen below, yet i still get moments of lag in the game! How can a 2004 game have slow moments on my rig? These moments are very few and far between, but it's just piqued my interest as to why my rig would struggle at all.

If you can see anything wrong with my specs or have any suggestions as to what it could be i'd be really grateful.

Thanks

Rich

Poor programming maybe? My wife played The Sims for a while and I recall it spent quite a bit of time accessing the hard drive. That's all I can think of.

What else do you have working in the background? Any anti-virus scanning?

Also, I doubt that game was designed for a 64bit os, let alone vista which came out years afterwards. Might be worth trying compatibility mode to see if that helps at all.

Send a message via AIM to Alaron
Check if the game is fully patched and uptodate.

Thanks for the responses guys. I will check all the things suggested. As i said it's not the end of the world, just wanted some reassurance that there was nothing obviously wrong with my rig in terms of specs.

Thanks

Rich

Theres no way a computer like that could struggle with a game from 2004.

Are any of your newer, more demanding games running in a sluggish fashion?
