Anyone experienced any significant performance gain/losses after installing Direct X 8.1? I myself haven't tested it yet, but am just curious. TIA.

I got 2702 points in 3D mark 2001, that's a plus of about 300 (2442 with DX8.0a).
Seems that all my games still run well, but it's a bit too early to say something about it (have DX8.1 for 2 days).

What was the issue with DirectX 8.0a, RJ?

Is it another horror story?

I got DX 8.0a but have been reluctant to install it? I JUST DON'T WANNA LOSE A DAY OR TWO REINSTALLING EVERYTHING I HAVE!!

Question Direct X 8.0a AGP Aperture Test on Radeon

I have an ATI Radeon DDR LE videocard and had installed the latest drivers compatible with Direct X 8.0a. Now, my inquiry is this: When I go to my DxDiag tests, the AGP Aperture Test is not enabled or highlighted. Is this normal for this card? I have also installed the update for the video capture of Direct X 8.0a. I can't enable the test also..

Try reinstalling your via agp driver if you have a via board.

Thank You

Thank you very much for the advice. I downloaded VIA's latest 4 in 1 driver for my Epox mainboard. The AGP Aperture Test is now activated and my Radeon passed the test successfully.
