3DMark2001 Score?

I know that the scores for 3DMark 2001 are considerably lower than you would get if using 3DMark 2000, and also that they will be a lot lower unless you are using something like the GeForce III.

When using 3DMark 2001, it looks pretty good in low detail, but pretty bad in high detail, I get a score of 2259 when using it with the 3D Prophet 4500 64MB (Kyro II chipset). Is this acceptable, or are there any things I can do to tweak the set up to get more out of it?

Detailed specs below!

Thanks
David

Scores are going to be lower in 3DMark2001 than the 2000 version regardless of the video card as the 2001 version was designed to work the video system much harder than the 2000 version.

For comparison: I get 2702 points in 3D mark 2001 (nVidia driver 21.83 and DirectX 8.1). System spec is listened below.

I agree. Your score looks normal; so I wouldn't worry about it. It's not what other people score in 3DMark 2001 that's important: it's how your games play on your PC. If everything is playing well with no slowdown, then the card is good enough.
If however, you wish to play the numbers game, then there are lots of forums and sites dedicated to this subject. Just do a search on any search engine for geoforce overclocking or 3D Mark 2001 and you will find them.

Ya, if you dont have a GeForce 3, then you're gonna take a big hit as I think... 3 or 4 of the tests are made using the infiniteX thingy. Most games that people play as far as needing good frame rates are like UT, QIII, and Half-life... all of which came out in '99, '99, and '98 respectively. With a geForce 3, you can score up to about 7000 with an Athlon 1.8 cuz I get over 6500 with a 1.4ghz. Point being, if you play games that dont need as much power as does 3D Mark 2k1, then dont sweat it.
