AA3 and Steam

I'm trying to get back into computer gaming, and was wondering what you guys thought of America's Army 3 and Steam. Last time I played AA was when it first came out, and last time I used Steam was when HL2 came out. Is Steam still a good way of getting games / updates, or has it turned sour in the last few years?

Thanks!

Update: I actually was able to recover my old Steam account just now, and it says they're offering Fallout 3 for $24.99 this weekend! What's been everyone's experience with buying / downloading games?

I primarily use steam, and have been consistently since 2004. I've been satisfied with the game offerings, prices/deals, and update system. I play a mix of purchased games and free mods (some featured mods get updated through steam).

Granted, I haven't gone nuts and made very many purchases, but I can't say I've had any bad experiences.

The one downside is that if you're looking for support with your account that can't really be answered by using the forums, there's no phone number to call. Correspondence is all done electronically.

I've been using it consistently for about a year...got AA3 and Fallout3 through it (both work great). I actually prefer it to CDs from a reliability standpoint; I don't have to keep track of anything....any time I re-install my OS or what ever, I can just log back into steam and re-download everything.

24.99? I'm jealous....paid 50 for Fallout3 a month ago :-/

I have used it since it was released with Half Life 2. If I want a game and it is available on Steam that is how I purchase it. Steam is games done right IMO. No CD's to get scratched/lost. No crazy DRM (AKA SecureRom). I have never had any issues.

By the way, if you install Steam on a separate hard drive or partition you don't even have to redownload everything after a Windows reinstall. That can take a while when you have 40+GB of games installed. All you have to do is install Steam in the same location after installing Windows and all of your games and data is there just like it was before.
