Empire: Total War runs smoother than Rome: Total War
So I just played the Empire: Total War demo and it runs extremely smoothly on my system. I have played Rome: Total War for a long time, and it gets laggy when there are a moderate number of folks on the screen. With Empire, it was smooth as silk with the same amount of people, and the graphics were much better too.
Can anyone explain why an older game like Rome would run poorer than the newer Empire? Could Rome be more cpu dependent than Empire, and that's why my hd 4870 beats my E4400? Or, is Empire just better optimized than the older one? FYI, I run Rome with the latest patch. Thanks!

Hmnnn ....
I haven't heard any "howls" but that doesn't mean anything. Time to go "patch" hunting and post back.
