-Wake up! Has this dream stopped? The snake was pale gold Glazed and shrunken
And she was beside me Ooh, she's not young Her dark red hair, her white soft skin
Now, run to the mirror in the bathroom, look She's coming in here I can't live through each slow century of her moving
The smooth hissing snakes of rain...

Cool. Run some different popular benchmarks so you start to get a feel for how your computer compares to others so you can start to get an idea of how you might increase its speed. Coincidentally, we have the same CPU and very similar boards. That is a very over clockable CPU if you get a good aftermarket HSF. I have mine running at 3.8 which is 20% over its stock speed of 3.16. Its very stable. Many people have clocked these over 4.0 but its not worth it because of a steep diminishing returns curve.

What do you get for 3DMark06? I get a 17105 score.

3DMark Vantage is Vista and higher only, 3DMark 06 was recommended in a post above, which is compatible with XP: http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks...mrequirements/

Good decision. Do not overclock if you do not know how. You can do some very expensive damage to your computer. With enough studying, you can teach yourself how, but keep in mind, you invalidate the warranty of the CPU plus you still risk doing damage or shortening the life of your computer. I would not recommend it to anyone who is not real familiar with computers.

I use the default settings for 3Dmark06....which I believe is the standard for comparison.

Use Fraps to get framerates in games. Its the best I know of. I usually run it when I am running games just because I am curious to know.

ive been looking at those live results they post and i scored about 14000 points with 3Dmark06.

i saw some better pcs scoring near or a little bit more than me like for ex :

A marked difference is one thing, a minor difference that doesn't affect your game play can be ignored.

Major question : Are you having game problems?

not at all as you see at the start of this thread and also in this one :

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=210456

i played both of these demanding games maxed out at 1920/1080 res 2x aa with no problems

and now i am playing Dragon Age Origin with same settings here is haw it looks with
fraps :

its just that i didnt have a chance to get windows 7 yet so i cant use 3dmark vantage
but i tested with 3dmark06 and i get around 14000 points

i was looking on the live results they put on 3dmark vantage web and i saw
some really better pc like having i7 cpus and GTx 260 scoring not so much
better than me .. so i was just wondering if i would get less points with
3dmark vantage when i get windows 7 or its about the same thing . thats all
