Steam and Windows 7 ...

Going by the Steam forums Windows 7 plays nicely with Steam.

What have been your experiences using Windows 7( 32 bit and 64 bit ) ?

Hi Ho 10-20-2009 08:02 PM

I have used Windows 7 (64 & 32bit) since beta in January. I have not had any problems with Steam. I buy every game I can on Steam.

The only real issue I had was back in beta and it was not Steam related. Punkbuster in COD: 4 didn't like something that Windows 7 was doing and would kick me out of every online game within a couple minutes. That issue was resolved before RC even came out.

The last two Nvidia driver releases have been problematic, though it appears that this is not related to Windows 7 specifically. I updated after each release and rolled back to 181.72 which is what Windows seems to think is best as it is installed automatically and haven't had any problems with that version.

I just saw last night when I logged into Steam a software upgrade prompt that deals with Windows 7 issues. I would imagine that you will be prompted when you log in as well.

hmmm

I have been having some trouble with COD Mod War 2. But I do not think its Steam related. See other post in "Gaming".

Steam used to let me play games without it being on. And it used to tell me the version of the game, but it does not seem to now.
Thats more of a rant then a actual tech problem, but...

I'm not thrilled with Steam. Why do I need an go between to play a game? Just makes it more complicated when something does go wrong.

As I see it, all my problems with games involving Steam are Steam caused. After almost a year I still can't play(check that) load the game.

No problems with Steam at present. Using Windows 7 64.
