vertical sync
Hi . at some games i get more frames per second than 60 fps
but enabling vsync would limit my game to 60 fps so in that case what is better ? to enable it and getting with 60 fps or disabling it and have the maximum rate it will go ? i am asking that because i was testing at the devil may cry 4 enabling vsync but at 60 fps it gave me a B grade for performance then i disabled it and tried again and it gave me a higher grade so that made me wounder , is it and advantage or a disadvantage to enable it at that case ?

well if your refresh rate on your monitor is 60 hertz then anything above 60fps you most likely won't be able to see. As for vsync it removes "screen tearing" or when you turn the camera real fast in a game and then you see for a split second that the image is sort of broken some areas as this image displays.
http://www.nhancer.com/help/images/VSync.png but i'd say that you would want vsync on if your getting well above 60 fps because you got that extra performance ^^

Unless you're having a screen tearing problem with a CRT monitor you could pretty much ignore vertical sync these days if you chose to.

Unless you are having a tearing problem, vsync is of no use.
Most monitors at their native resolution are limited to 60 FPS. Even if the games frame rate is faster, 60 FPS is all you are going to get...which is plenty good. Our eyes cannot perceive much past 60 Hz anyways. Check out what trilinear filtering does. L4D and WoW has it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trilinear_filtering

humm , pretty complicated , i see what you mean about vsync but i still see that water wave edge kind of thing like a rim . no tearing it just go through the screen from up to down
like the Mexican wave . or like of you throw a stone in a pool of water and it happen when i turn around and not in all games .. like now i am playing Risen and Wolfenstein , its happening in Risen but not in Wolfenstein.. but Risen dose not have vsync option that seems to fix that wave on other games like assassin creed and resident evil 5 .. sorry am a bit confused but that wave is not bothering me its not that visible
