-Wake up! Has this dream stopped? The snake was pale gold Glazed and shrunken
And she was beside me Ooh, she's not young Her dark red hair, her white soft skin
Now, run to the mirror in the bathroom, look She's coming in here I can't live through each slow century of her moving
The smooth hissing snakes of rain...

Going back to 2006, maybe 2005, any game that used the Unreal Engine could make full use of multi-core processors (Though that didn't necessarily mean that they did.).

So do you mean that they weren't efficient about using the multi-cores?

Crysis, for example, was coded for multi-core .
Other games weren't coded for it and couldn't use it.
It's not a matter of efficiency.

We'll eventually get to the point where gamers can add efficient use of multi-core to the list of topics they argue about but we're not there yet (Though, with help from Steam, we may get there sooner rather than later.).

ohh so it sounds like when steam decides to offer 64 bit versions of games + the actual application Steam then that's when the "efficiency" would increase? or do you mean the actual encoding of the games by the developers? <-- or maybe I'm looking at this wrong and you mean both lol

Many of the newer games can utilize dual core processors. Windows machines with a 64 bit OS can of course run 64 bit games or 32 bit games.

If your core(s) are running at 100% and you are not running a lot of stuff in the background, that is a sign that your CPU is the bottleneck.

Efficiency comes from writing code for games that uses less of the CPU and GPU. Crysis was not written very efficiently. Crysis Warhead was written more efficiently (Crytek made changes to the graphics engine making it more efficient), therefore the better framerates, given the same game settings compared to the original Crysis

i dont think my cpu is a bottleneck for any games out there at the time being .
am playing batman asylum and its using less than 50% of 1 core ..

maybe this game is just programed to reserve all availbe cpu capacity but am sure its not actully
using all of it .

Looks like it's a common complaint for this game:

I looked at a few of the threads, but didn't see any fixes or solutions listed. You may have to dig a bit deeper.
