FPS games advice needed
I was going to describe my self as an amateur gamer, but, Maybe one step lower would be a better description.
I used to play Ghost Recon. I tried to install it on my new Windows 7 64 bit, and it won't install. I am trying to decide if I should buy an XBOX or PS 3 or upgrade my PC.(see thread in this forum). One thing I need help with is finding FPS games that are compatible with my OS. I can't seem to find the system requirements for the new games. Where do I look to make sure they will play on Windows 7 64 bit? I'm leaning toward upgrading my PC and buying some FPS games. I would like to get games in the same type as Ghost Recon. Any recommendations for this? Thanx

I don't like the term "gamer". It suggests some negative things and puts people into a narrow category. I like game player.

TEEB,
To answer your original question, look on the box or go to the software developers website to see which operating systems their game officially supports. At least this way you know the developer is at least trying to make their game compatible with your OS. Like all new OS's, there will always be some bugs to work out. Sometimes it just takes some time or for a patch to come along. For older games like Ghost Recon where the developer is no longer writing new code for the game, some operating systems can emulate older operating systems allowing you to run older games. I don't know about Windows7 64 bit. The only other suggestion I have is to go to gamers forums that specialize in your game to see if they have found solutions to your specific problem. calmius, Its the people who think that playing games like Left 4 Dead are going to turn some of us into crazed sniper rifle carrying killers in real life, are the same people who have made "gamer" a bad name. If the name were changed the false reputation would eventually follow. Therefore in the long run it makes no difference what we are called. We hold many titles in our lives....some might be: father, employee, golfer, driver etc. Be proud to add gamer to one of your titles.
