Playing games through windows 7 media center
Hi Guy's,
I am new to this site and a novice when it comes to computers, so I am probally in the wrong place for asking a question about games, but here goes. My son and I are trying to place his games ( Halo Etc) into the media center in Windows 7 so that he can play on his TV through his Xbox. The set up is fine, we just can seem to place the games that are already in the computer into the media center, can anyone help? If you get time and you understand an idiots request I would be very thankfull. Thanks Steve. |

Are the game disks written for a PC or an XBox?
They are two very different formats and are not cross compatible with the different hardware devices. You will need to purchase games formatted for an XBox in order to play games on an XBox. The same applies to a PC. I think thats what you are asking? My other thought is that you are asking if you can connect the XBox to the media centers monitor or television? You can with a KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) switch that switches the monitor between the media centers computer video output and the Xboxes video output. If you are lucky, your monitor or TV may have a source switch that selects between different video sources. It may be the case that the video out connector of the Xbox may be different from the video out connector of the media center and your monitor or TV has both of these types of video ports. In this case, you would be able to switch between the two different video sources at the monitor or television and would not need a KVM switch.

It sounds as if you're trying to use the Media Center for games in the same way you'd use it for recorded video (TV) and music that you can use to push to the XBox 360.
Not going to happen. This is what the Media Center does : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...d/default.aspx So no games unless you want to connect the PC to the television so that your son can switch to it or follow David's suggestion about the KVM switch.

Thanks guy's, I thought as much. I will wait until I have upgraded an old PC and connect directly to the TV.
Once again thanks for your swift response. My son has just asked if you know of any cool new games out their for the PC, he has all the HALO/Dawn of War 2/Warcraft-Reign of Chaos. Steve |

There are quite a number of websites out there that rate PC and console games. All it takes is a Google search. ![]() My favorite PC games right now are Left 4 Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. Microsoft Flight Simulator X is also a favorite. The original Halo multiplayer for the PC is still one of my all time favorites. Playing the modded versions where you can be up in tops of the canyon walls are great fun.
