i dunno about this video card upgrade every few weeks but is time really a factor
in playing games ? back in the 80s i used the same atari game console for years . and in the 90s computers used to run games much easier . yes i like what i see now with the 3d vision and all . but dose any one of you have the time to play all the new games , and finish them or play and master the multiplier ? so that you need to get a new one after a month ? so that they need a newer card ? am saying this because i keep thinking . we played emperor battle of dune for 8 years lol and i played bf2 for 5 years also . http://forum.dune2k.com/index.php?topic=21347.0 http://www.bfstats.info/player.php?id=19456 i am spicy and deathand look at that : Play Time: 835:42:43 Kills: 24620 even at single player . i am playing this game for a good 60 days now and as game spot says Brilliantly nails the traditional strategy RPG formula http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/kings...ummary%3Btitle i know during this time 10s of other games was released do i need a new card to playing them ? i still didnt play the older games and i even stooped playing online since i bought this pc because i waste all time trying to play the single player games . what should drive gamers to upgrade every 6 month if most of them can spend 2 months to finish a single player game campaign, or years in becoming elite in a multilayer game like world of war craft or splinter cell or eve online ?

I really don't think that gamers upgrade their GPUs every 6 months. That would be a waste of money and unnecessary. Do they even come out with new cards that often?
Anyways I have the HD 2600 in my laptop and it has played all games that accept DX9 (I have XP on the computer, can't use DX10). Of course it can't play top notch graphics, but it does the job and I imagine that other gamers also use their GPU until it cannot play games anymore. Over the last years the time between upgrades has shortened, but I strongly doubt anyone except maybe world professional gamers upgrade their GPU every 6 month, then only probably because they have sponsors. And you say there are to many games to play? That is the point. They make so many that you feel forced to buy them at once and spend money on them. The wisest thing to do is pick out the ones you feel are the best, play them then when you get bored with them buy another one. Chances are the game will be cheaper and they won't go out of stock for at least 2 or more years. There are always places that sell "old" games. Besides if you ABSOLUTELY have to have 3D, you have to afford it. In some years the technology will be spread out among companies and it will be cheaper. That has proven to happen again and again with other things, why not this. Just because they say that the gaming experience is better doesn't mean that NOT having 3D will make it bad. |

in hardware and my limited budget i game about 10 hours a day which makes me a hardcore gamer by addiction . you dont think people are buying these cards? haw come they are selling them then ? do you know that nvidia discontinued making the 200 series already ? my card got out dated the day i bought it . i got it at 4/2009 for 220 $ so thats not cheap and it was the high end card for the nvidia 9xxx series for that year as it was released at 7/2008 now this card is having real troubles running games at medium i couldnt play bc2 at low even that is only about a year after i bought it . look at this . http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=88&pgno=8 the gtx 260 was released at 7/2008 out dating the 9800gtx+ the same day it was released so dose that answer ure question ? ati is even faster no one have time to keep up with their releases not even nvidia lol , so they got to announce the 300 series which didnt exist in realty . coming up with the fermi card boiler which is threatening their own existence loot at the fermi 480 going bazook at 95 c while the ati playing it easy at 60 c http://www.gamespot.com/features/626...icks%3Bimg%3B2 were they gonna go next ? island volcano ? high end cards wont be dropping in price in the future so you and i can buy them a few months later because they will be out of stock by then . and mid range cards are not for gamers anymore because newer games are not being made to cope with them any longer . The only game I play is COD MW2.
I played some back in college (Doom, Duke Nukem) but then didn't play for over 10 years. Played COD Modern Warfare a little then got the new one around Christmas. I've played 125 hours on single player and have completed the campaign through all levels, and all but 2 of the spec ops missions on veteran. I'm 411 hours into multiplayer and have almost made my negative 3000 kill/death backlog a positive one - I started playing the game on my old P4 with ATI x1650 video card so pretty much sucked. I'm at 31652 kills, 31754 deaths Things have been much better with the new PC. I doubt I'll replace or even upgrade my PC for 3 years. I barely have time to play one game as much as I want to, let alone newer games that come out! |

yes what you said is exactly what i wanted to say . the speed of releasing hardware and games
dose not match with the way the gamers play . what difference would it make if i upgrade my vga now or next year ? if i am still playing king bounty armored princess for 2 month's now on single player alone . and am still in the middle of it ? haw come game makers can come up with a game that makes my card obsolete in those 4 months ? and what is the rush for it ? its a bit urological to me sometimes . |
