Windows 7 "Experience Index"

Not sure what good numbers are but after my build, I ran into this by accident. Not sure whether to be dismayed by my Crucial 128 GB SSD rating or not (of course, I guess the drive index might be using the slowest drive for measurement, and not the "C" drive).

Anyway, from top down:

7.5
7.5
7.8
7.8
6.9 ( disk transfer rate)

Are these any good?

They're good.
Enjoy your games.

I can guess what your specs are but post them for everyone else.

Very good and it's typical that it is the hard drives giving the lowest score.

Thanks for the replies. Though I subscribed to this thread, I didn't get any email notification.

The build is a build I did here and one several people assisted/comment on, particularly, GLC (duh!) who was quite a help (thanks again!).

Specs, FTW...

ASUS P55-E board;
Intel i7 860 (not overclocked ATM)
Crucial SSD 128 Gb SSD (hopefully connected up to the 6GB SATA port correctly and taking full advantage of it)
Diamond ATI Radeon 4870 (1)
G.Skill Ripjaw 8 GB 1600 RAM
2 other drives of non-interesting note (both spinning at 7200 and I don't know what the seek/latency/access times are).

Thanks for your interest.

I kinda think hard drive speed is weighted too heavily. If you look at it, there are other more critical factors with a computers speed.

I think people put way too much interest in the experience index. Your score are great, but you knew that before looking. The numbers are good for helping with what to upgrade if neccessary.

I agree with David, and also the base score is a joke. I'll bet a dime to a donut it'll just about always be the same as the hdd.

Isn't the overall score simply the lowest score from any single component? I thought that's what I read when I ran it at home.

My SATA 3.0 7200 rpm drive gives me a 5.9 score

That 6.9 is most likely your SSD.

But what does it really mean?
My gaming performance is definitely not being limited by my hardware!

Yeah, I read to see "What the numbers mean" and it was a nebulas sort of reply. And, certainly, as we know, any component that has movement is going to always be a slower component that has no moving parts. (now that I read that, it sounds kind of funny...)

I have Crucial Ballistix DDR3 running at 1600 8-8-8-24 and am only getting a 5.5. I only have 2GB however. I suppose it takes not only memory speed but also capacity into account? I'm also surprised to see that an SSD only nets you 1 point over a WD Black @ 5.9.
