radeon 64 mb sdr with games

Hi ! I just installed a new vid card (radeon 64 mb sdr), installed the latest drivers, and I tried it with a few games. This is my first 3d accelerator card, and man! I'm wondering how I could play before. A 3d accel card is a must ! (I know, you all know that). Just have a question though. the following phenomenon never happens in windows, but happens in games. When I am playing, the image will have almost imperceptible and rapidly moving lines.(I see them only when I am at 30 cm (1 feet) or closers to the screen). The lines are vertical, moving fast vertically, and are not very disturbing, but I was wondering if it was normal, and if it could be fixed. I know my description is not very accurate, but that is the best I can think of.

Thanks

pstj

G,day Pstj, Curious about your monitor and resolution? And should you be
viewing it so close?, out of your own curiosity I assume.! Can you
supply some more details.?
Regards Pot..

Hi Pot,

my monitor is a 17 inches and the resolution is set to 1024x768, which is the normal rez for a 17". The refresh rate is set at optimal (for this rez, its 85 hertzs). As for why I was only at 30 centimeters of my screen, I was looking to see if there was something different (I was just curious to see the level od detail). I did some tests, though, and I have discovered that the better the graphics, the more visible the "lines" (the vertical distortion). Any idea ?

Someone told me that if my modem was close to my vid card, it could be the reason for the interferences. Is this right ? My modem is actually in the PCI slot nearest to the AGP slot. Could this be the problem?

thanks
