This is why there are demos, download them and find out if "Bad Company 2" is for you.
Think you could use a few pointers? Head over to You Tube and start with this video : YouTube - Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - How Not To Be A Noob Given the going prices for games these days, unless it's the year-end sale at Steam, always try for yourself first.

I have played both...my vote is for L4D2. I just enjoy it more.
If you like somewhat realistic and serious war FPS games then the answer is Battlefield. If you like the twisted and bizarre then get L4D2....there is never a dull moment with this game. Sometimes I cant stop laughing at some of the strange things that sometimes happen. I also really enjoy working as a team with three other players using microphones to communicate. It's really fun when you get in with a few people who really know how to work as a team....on the other hand it can really stink when people play as individuals. You cannot win on Expert Level when people do that...fortunately really bad players (I call them Nomads) can be voted out.

I would just look at the YouTube videos of the game. There are dozens showing Battlefield out there. That should get you a pretty good sense of the game.

I own both of these games and play them both on PC at 1080p. On my system (listed below) I get about 30-40fps on bad company 2 (0xAA) and about 40+ on l4d2 (4xAA), other than AA both games are maxed out in DX9.
Now my preference is bad company 2 by far because it supports DX11, so if you have a DX11 card remember that it'll have that advantage of l4d2 which is strictly DX9. Regardless of graphics, if you like a game and you LOVE to mod it, get l4d2. Reason being is that there are sites like L4Dmaps that will give you extra maps, campaigns, character models, sounds, etc (there are really some top notch stuff that is EASILY better than some of the stuff valve made). However if you LOVE weapons and/or love war games I'd say to go for bad company 2. But there is almost no mods (at least I haven't herd any) that wouldn't prevent you from playing online. Verdict: I find myself playing bad company 2 more often than L4D2 by a lot, however if you want someone to play with on either of them just let me know and I can pm you my info.

My LCD is 19" and the 5770 runs the 1440x900 resolution with no problems on anything I've hit it with. I can usually enable most, if not all, effects. I get a few drops into the 30s but mostly it's in the 50s or better. |

Honestly I think L4D2 is dying. It used to be popular with many players, but now its more a "friends" game where you go together with friends.
BC2 has a bunch of noobs and they are easy to kill :P Download L4D2 demo, try it, find someone with BC2, try it. Then make your decision

I got left 4 dead 2 and its not the same. It is not fun like it use to be, I already played like long time ago so the thrill died I guess.. I dont regret buying it because I owe it to valve. All I need to do is buy all the counter strikes and I'm even with valve.

Agreed....you have to find the right kind of people to team up with, which is getting more difficult. Too many people do not have microphones now. Being able to communicate with others to discuss strategies and to make wisecracks is half the fun. I really hate to use this term but there are far too many "noobs" now who do not get it that the game only works if it is a team effort.

I'm a little late to this thread but I have input regarding Bad Company 2. I bought the game just after it came out and I have played less than 2 hours on multiplayer. BC2 multiplayer really doesn't do it for me. I found it to be boring, buggy, and unpolished. I have MUCH more fun playing Modern Warfare 2.
BC2 does have an excellent single player campaign and I have been enjoying that but I do regret spending $50 on the game because I thought the multiplayer experience would be a lot better.
