PC games for kids around 6 years old?

I have a nephew who is around 6 years old and likes to play PC games. Last time I downloaded disney Cars Radiator Springs PC game which he enjoyed and was wondering any other PC game that you could recommend me that would be suitable for kids around his age?

Blues Clues Activities

But I would also recommend simply reading to him- books.

As a matter of fact I don't recommend anyone under 10 spending a lot of time on the computer.

Not trying to give you a hard time, but not only does sitting in front of the computer wears out one's eyes faster, but at such age children need to expand their imagination more than develop hand-eye coordination or develop "skills". The computer limits their view and thoughts to what is on the screen. A story being read or narrated to a child lets him be the one putting faces on the characters and picturing the situations. Another sad thing is that games with good, relevant, educational (by educational I mean formative, not just informative) content are very hard to find nowadays. When it comes to teach morals to a child, current software works against you.

Books are "active" entertainment- in the sense you mentioned Nuke- the mental creation of images and scenes, rather than the passive- yes interactive- but still passive, computer game.
And, like television, it trains kiddos to sit in front of a screen and point and click- to "react" rather than engaging their imaginations to create.

All done, just got me to thinking as I read this post and revamp the parental control features on my 14 year old's online gaming account.

Not step on anyone's feet, but...
Check out Ubuntu and Edubuntu there's tons of educational games, entertainment games, and board-style games. Games and educational tools for all ages.- And they're all free.

I agree 100%. Here is a screen shot of my Grandson's PC (3years old) that he helped build.

I limit his time on it but I also am by his side the majority of the time he is learning on it. I give him positive re-reinforcement

He loves to build puzzles and K'Nex with his grandpa (me) as well

I read very little to him but his parents do that with him, very nurturing.

Windows based games like PopCap's BeJeweled 2, and Peggle are good games for his age and he will love them.
