Just throwing this neat program benchmark out there

This program is called AIDA64 Extreme Edition > Disk Benchmark

Device 1: Corsair 120GB SSD SATA II
Corsair Force CSSD-F120GB2-BRKT 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Device 2: Seagate Barracuda 500GB ATA (not SATA)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630A 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Hard Drive (Perpendicular recording)

I disconnected my other SATA drive that isn't a SSD so I'm just going to use my regular ATA drive.

Interesting...thanks. Never heard of a benchmark for drives before. I have two boot drives in my drive cage and a WD Black 64, 6GB/sec being delivered. Looking forward to benchmarking all of them.

I will post the results. It would be cool if others would post their results, especially those with solid state drives. It would be interesting to see how close manufacturers claims are to reality with the SSD's.

I plugged in the SATA drive to do another benchmark, here are the results.

This is on an ASUS P5Q PRO TURBO motherboard (P45 chipset) LGA775

I have removed the image you requested, and I have also converted the second image to a link. As per the forum rules, we prefer links to inline images in respect for members with slow connections and/or low resolution monitors.

That is quite a difference in the read times between those drives.

Thanks glc, and truthfully I was expecting better from the SATA drive.

I downloaded the software and in the instructions it says: 3. USING THIS BENCHMARK TEST YOU WILL LOSE ALL INFORMATION ON THE STORAGE DEVICE. USE THIS TEST VERY CAREFULLY!

Yikes! ...be careful indeed. That eliminates being able to test my drives.
