I bought the new black ops. Why do I have to go on line to install it? I,m on dial up so this takes forever. I haven't been able to install it yet. Once installed will I have to go on line each time I play? Single player only!

I moved your post out of an existing thread and made its own thread.
First, did you install it with steam? Second, it needs to be activated online. Then, if you're running with Steam, once it sees the game is out of date, it will update it. Until it finished, I'm not sure you'll be able to play it. However, once it is finished, you can enter offline mode and play it.

For some reason they force you to install by downloading via steam. There is no way to install via the disk and when you are done downloading, it will make you update. The first time you run the game it will make you download even more things.
I have no idea why they chose to make it extra difficult, but thats the way it is I would recommend taking your computer to a friend with fast internet and doing the downloads there :P

Right as Anomo said , go use a friends connection. Dial Up 56k or by dial up you meant DSL, haven't heard of dial up without them meaning DSL in a loooong time. Multiplayer will be very difficult on 56k.
