Black ops and steam

Been a few years since I played a game on my PC. Just purchased COD black ops, Is the website steam just a part of it now?

Not sure I understand the question. You can purchase and download the game on Steam or buy the PC version on DVD.

You can register a DVD game on Steam. Is that what you mean?

To play multiplayer you have to do it through the Steam cloud, if that's what you're asking.

These are the game requirements : Here Are Your Call Of Duty: Black Ops Specs!

Are the specs in your signature outdated or accurate?

Those are my old PC. I built a new one to game on. Specs are
Intel i5 2500K 4g ram ATI6850 GPU 700WPSU ASUS MB. I tried loading the game and nothing loaded but something for steam. I have been trying to finish loading it, even the last two days but it's so slow. I'm now using my Verizon mifi which is faster than dialup but still in two days it isn't finished. NOMORE GAMES FOR ME THAT REQUIRES STEAM. Besides, I only want to play single player.

The Steam platform likes to keep it's games updated. There is a way to play games on Steam "offline", but you will most likely need to let it finish the installation first. I have a broadband internet connection, so it does not give me too much trouble, but I can understand your frustration. COD MW3 did the same thing for me, loaded some core components, the downloaded the rest of the game from the Steam cloud. This seems to be the way things are going. Battlefield 3 installed a lot of the game from the Origin cloud.
