My System Config - Pls Guide me
Hi Friends !
I'm buying a machine of the following config - CORE i7 2600K - 3.4 GHZ - 8MB CACHE ASUS P8H 67-M EVO MOTHER BOARD 2 x 2GB DDR3 COSAIR SEAGATE 1 TB 6 GBPS SATA2 DVD WRITER 550W HUNTKEY SMPS My intention is to build a fair gaming machine but the only Graphics Card I can buy for now is a ASUS Nvidia Geforce 210 1 GB card. I know its not a great card for gaming but just wanted some guidance if I will be able to play a few games on medium settings with the above system ? Kindly guide me on this... Thanks !!! |

The built-in Intel 3000 graphics will play games better than a 210. Don't bother. The 210 is sold as a HTPC graphics card and it has almost no gaming power whatsoever.
Save some money and get an i5-2500K instead, the i7 improves nothing for you in games. I'd also get a better brand of power supply. |

Thanks a lot for the kind reply and guidance - i cant change the processor or any other components for now because I'm getting this computer from a friend as a good deal - almost for half the price... the only thing I dont have access to for now is a good gaming card... will be a great help if you can kindly guide me on a good graphics card for decent gaming - I cant afford the high end cards but something similar or slightly expensive than the 210 ?
Please guide me... and also if I may ask wont the i7 be better than i5 for gaming ? Kindly excuse my ignorance but I just wanted to know since I thought i7 is the most powerful out there ? |

How much are you willing to spend on a graphics card?

Just use the built in graphics and save your pennies until you can afford a good graphics card. You can get by with the built in graphics as long as you don't turn things up and run at a lower resolution.

You will have to spend more than $70 USD to get a card that will perform better than the onboard Intel 3000 graphics.
The only thing the i7 brings to the table over the i5 is hyperthreading (no games that I'm aware of can benefit from that) and a slightly higher clock speed (not worth the $100 USD higher cost). |
