Hooking Xbox360 to a Sharp TV

Hey folks,

I am running into some snags. I am trying to hook my Xbox 360 up to a 19k m100 sharp TV.

Thanks...

You haven't given anyone much to go on.
Standard instructions for the hook up are here : Connect Your Xbox 360 console to a TV | Xbox 360 HDMI | Xbox 360 AV Cable - Xbox.com - Xbox.com

Where, exactly, are you running into problems?

Robbie, you've been here long enough now to know you have to post with DETAILS. We have to pry them out of you with most of the threads you start.

It's just a CRT (Analog) TV. Use the AV cables.

Looks to me like that old clunker doesn't have stereo audio inputs, all I see in the service manual is a yellow composite video and a single white monaural audio input.

Heh, yeh I found the service manual also. i saw the video input and just assumed it had stereo.

An RF modulator would do the trick. Probably about 15-20 bucks. Cheaper if there's a Big Lots nearby.

and just to show off a bit

If you dont have a coaxial input on your tv, you can attach a 75 ohm transformer to the coaxial cable that comes from the output from the RF modulator. Connect the wired connectors to the antennae leads. Of course that's then only video. You would have to connect the sound (red and whte leads)to an external stereo.

Been there, done that. It does work. Well it did with Playstation. Composite video is still composite.

I thought the RF modulator also carried audio?

They do, it travels thru the coax too. But on a really old tv without a coax conection you can still get the video to the screen using the transformer. These old tvs usually had a couple of screws that allowed an external antennae to be attached. Thats where you attach the transformer. A coax cable is then attached between the transformer and RF modualator.

The stereo leads are not plugged in. To get sound this way you run the red and white leads to an external speaker system or stereo. Using this method you have to split the sound from the video at one point.

Way back in the day, my consoles passed audio through the RF modulator and the transformer to a twin lead TV.

I dont remenber it carrying the audio. Maybe I had it hooked up that way for another reason. Broken speaker maybe? Guess I'm not showing off too much. Other than my bad memory.

Anyway; once you said it, it does make sense it would carry the audio. Audio came over airwave thru the antenae.

Hope the OP comes back. Lot of noodle work if not.
