This may be a dumb question. I am thinking of upgrading to a P4 with Rambus memory. With rambus, do I need a video card with rambus? Is rambus compatitble with sdram in a video card? If I need a card with rambus, where can I find one? Are there any good discussions of this on the net?
Thank you for any help. doug v. |

Hi Doug, welcome to the PC Mech forums!
First, there are no dumb questions. And no, the video card and motherboard are two seperate components so it doesn't matter what type of RAM either uses. Currently there are no RDRAM video cards anyway, only DDR and SDRAM. Hope that helps.

hay i just had a thought..
I remember rthat DDR made its debut (so to speak) in Video cards.. has there been any talk of sticking RD-Ram onto these things? surely that'd help unclog some of the bottleneck? But then again the price of RDram is kinda high at the moment, so that might really push the GF3's too far out of reach..? waddya reckon? |
