Unable to connect to Crysis 3 server
I have an Origin account with Battlefield 3, Crysis 3 and Medal of Honor. I can play BF3 and MOH just fine. I can also connect to the Origin store just fine. When I go to play the paid retail version of Crysis 3 beta, I am met with a message that I cannot connect to the server. I was able to download Crysis 3 from EA's server.
I am using Bitdefender's firewall which I have temporarily disabled, just to see if that is the problem. I have gone through EA's help sites looking for the same problem with possible resolutions. Could it be my server blocking my connection? Does Crysis 3 work for anyone here? What else might I try to determine the problem? Could the problem possibly be on EA's side?

It looks like there's a few scattered posts complaining about the same issue on their facebook page and on their forums. No answers though.
Try contacting EA support, maybe? https://help.ea.com/?sso_redirect=1

I placed a message with their support.
I found this... https://help.ea.com/article/opening-...nection-issues I have Windows 7. When I do a search and find " Windows Firewall", I click on the icon but no window opens up which would give me the option to open the ports necessary to get Crysis to run. According to this: https://help.ea.com/article/connecti...es-with-origin these are the ports that need to be open for all of their games to work... TCP ports: 80 443 9960-9969 1024-1124 18000 18120 18060 27900 28910 29900 UDP ports: 1024-1124 18000 29900 How might I get the Windows Firewall to open so I can make sure these ports are open? I went to my other gaming computer and was able to open Windows Firewall. So I opened up inbound rules and saw Crysis 3 had the green checkmark, along with MOH and BF3.
So what isn't clear is that under New Rule, how do I open up the ports that I need to make sure are open? Is there a way to get a list of all my ports to see which are open and which are closed? As an aside, I have never had to go through all this to get Steam games to connect to a server. It's kind of a shame that EA has games that I want to play and that they can't seem to just make it work without making their customers spend hours researching how to fix their problems. Wouldn't it be nice if EA shut down Origin and let the professionals, Steam, distribute their games? Last edited by David M; 04-13-2013 at 06:51 PM. |

I would think installing teh game would automatically add exceptions to the firewall.... don't it usually work that way?

Honestly, I'd be wary of opening all those incoming ports...they aren't to safe to have wide open. There's no reason to have them open unless you host a server.
Outgoing is fine, though. |

I don't understand then why Origin would say to make sure the ports in post three are open. I was thinking the same as you, that it could make my computer more vulnerable to attacks.

EA released a weak PR blurb about it each time. Something tells me they aren't going to change much. I haven't bought an EA game in years. They're always fraught with problems. Just google for the game's name and either "fail" or "glitch"...you'll be entertained for a good hour. |

Uggh. I will not be purchasing Battlefield 4. Not if I can't get Crysis 3 to work, which I just spent $60 on and for which there is no refund. That's just criminal, being able to sell a product for which there is no refund if the customer cannot get it to work.
How do I clear game cache? (not internet cache) I saw that as a suggestion as well. Last edited by David M; 04-14-2013 at 10:29 PM. |
