Does AGP 2X = AGP 2.0?
I bought a graphics card for my son for Christmas. (A VisionTek GeForce2 Ti.)
The system requirements say AGP 2.0 I checked my mobo manual and it lists the specs as AGP 2X . Is that the same? Will it work in my AGP 2X? Do I need to buy a new mobo for this card? Thanks, Dwight |

2X and 2.0 are not the same. 2X is the speed rating, 2.0 is a specification. You will have to find out whether the motherboard meets AGP 2.0 specs instead of 1.0. I believe that the AGP 2.0 spec requires 1X, 2X, and 4X support.
What motherboard is this? |

AGP 2.0 is a spec which I believe is related to power management. From what I can tell almost any ATX style power supply/case/motherboard will work. It will not work on the old AT style power supply/case/motherboards.

The motherboard is an ASUS P3V133.
Supports P2, P3, and Celerons 133 FSB, VIA Apollo Pro 133 Chipset. Here's the quote from the manual: "AGP Slot: Supports AGP cards for high performance, component level interconnection targeted at 3D graphical applications supporting 133MHz 2X mode." Thanks to all of you for your input. Dwight |
