I started to get lockups in games this evening and started to trouble shoot. When I go to open DXdiag it says "Dxdiag has detected there may have been a problem accessing direct draw the last time this program was used. Would you like to bypass direct draw this time?" If you select yes it lets you into dxdiag. If you select no you get the error message.....
DXDIAG caused an invalid page fault in module DDRAW.DLL at 017f:baabf317. When I try to open 3D Mark 2001 I get the same.... 3DMARK2001 caused an invalid page fault in module DDRAW.DLL at 017f:baabf317. Whats the best way to fix this? |

Some video cards donot support direct draw.
You can disable it by going to start run type DXdiag in the box hit enter. On the display page there is a button to disable direct draw. |

Hi moparacer,
Try reinstalling DX over itself. If that doesn't work then come back with your system specs. |

There is no graphics chip from ATI or nVidia that does not support DirectX or parts of it.
Apart from reinstalling DirectX I'd reinstall the graphics driver, too, also try a newer version of your graphics driver. RJ

Sorry with the lack of specs and late reply. I tried reinstalling direct X 8.0 again and the video card drivers to no avail. System specs are in my signature below. I have DX 8.0 and not 8.1 as is listed below.

Have you added any new hardware or software which may have caused this problem e.g. updated the video drivers, DX, or anything at all, no matter how unrelated or insignificant it may seem. Think back to when the problem first started. Last edited by mike breck; 12-29-2001 at 05:00 AM. |
