Loss of video during program install

I keep losing video during program installations. This has happened with a couple of my Army Men games and Half Life.

System is an XP 1600 on an ECS K7S5A with Radeon 7200.

The video lockup appears to be at random points during install and ranges from completely black screen to vertical stripes but no BSOD.

It appears to be just the video that locks up as the HDD and CDROM continue to spin. Any idea as what could be causing this?

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum, so if this post needs to be moved, please do so?

Hi PMich,

What version of Direct X are you running? What OS and what version of ATI's Drivers are you using? If this is a VIA chipset based board have you tried the latest 4 in 1 drivers? If based on another chipset, have you got the latest drivers for it? Also does this only happen during the install, or also during games? HTH
