GameOS
Does anyone have experience with GameOS? I was thinking of using it in my PII350 which will only be used for gaming.

I've never heard of it before, sounds interesting though... If you're feeling risky, it would be great if you gave it a shot and reported back here. Just don't forger the instructions for getting back to the default shell!

Doesn't seem to do much of anything:
System 1: Tbird 800 256 ram G3 TI200 Abit KT7 Win 98: 3DMark 2001 4386 UT Codex 10 Bots everything on high 52 FPS GameOS: 3DMark 2001: 4406 (woo, 20 point increase) Same UT: 55 FPS System 2: PII 350 Riva TNT 16 mg 128 ram Asus P2B Win 98: 3DMark 2000 1261 UT Codex 10 Bots 33 FPS GameOS: 3DMark 2000: 1262 (woo, 1 point increase) Same UT: 35 FPS Guess I could try some other games but don't really have the time or interest. These results tell me everthing I need to know to decide that I'm not going to use it. I have read though that using this Window shell results in a significant increase in FPS for some people-- not for me- not worth using for only a few FPS. |
