Vid Card under $70 HELP!
I am looking for a video card that can hold its own for under $70 on an AMD 900MHZ Athlon. On mwave and newegg it seems that ATI cards and Geforce 2 are in the price range. Any suggestions for a card? I will be gaming a bit(networked with my soyo dragon+), but grphics can have back seat to performance since this will be my second PC.

Here's a decent card within that price range. I'd suggest if you go with a GeForce2 MX, stay with the MX-400, and not the MX-200. It's more on track with the performance of a GeForce2 GTS, while the 200 is quite limited in it's capabilities.
Good luck.

I would suggest the ATI Radeon 32MB DDR card.

Another question, how can all these different companies produce the GeForce card? I am guessing that the chipset on all is similar?

Yep, all of the cards use the same GPU chip from nVidia (in this case, the GeForce 2 chip.) The mfg makes the PCB board and determines what brand, type (DDR vs. SDR), and amount of memory (32Mb vs. 64Mb) to use as well as choosing to add TV out and other such features.

I foud this:
ATI OEM RADEON 7000 32MB DDR W/TV $45 ATI OEM RADEON 7000 64MB SDR W/TV $46 ATI OEM RADEON VE 32MB WITH CRT/TV NO DVI $47 Would it be better to go with more memory or faster DDR? |

If you're planning on doing any gaming then go with the regular Radeon or the 7200. The Radeon VE/7000 is a crippled version of the regular Radeon meant for dual-head and business/workstation use.
ATI RADEON 7200 SDR 64MB $58 ATI RADEON DDR 32MB $59 |
