Graphics Card
I have a 4 year old Gateway computer with 512 Mb Ram and just had ADSL installed and use a 19" Monitor. Uses Win 98 SE.
With the system was a NVIDA 4MB AGP Video Card. Would it be of any benefit replacing this with a more modern Graphics Card with more memory ? Computer NOT used for GAMES only business but quite a bit of Internet use. Thank you. |

Hi Trevor,
You won't notice a difference performence wise since web surfing and business apps don't utilize the graphics card like games. However, if you would like crisper colors or support for a higher res on that monitor then a new card would be good. I would suggested the ATI Xpert 8MB card, perfect for what you need. Hope that helps.

Agree, better quality cards are mostly for 3D performance. For 2D (web pages, etc), ATI cards are commonly thoght to have better quality than Nvidia based cards.

I'd look for something below a Radeon, like an All-IN-Wonder expert/rage/whatever other flavor it comes int.
