whats the difference in the speed of dvd roms? how does a 6x differ from a 16x?

1x DVD speed is defined as 1,35MB/s.
The speed number incicates how many times faster the DVD drive can read the medium. It's the same as with CDs, just that the single speed data rate is different (1x CD = 150KB/s, 1x DVD = 1,35MB/s). HTH RJ
