I havn't played Tribes 1 but I have Tribes 2 and it's what's mostly played online now. It is somewhat like Halo in the "environment" sense, but Tribes is a totally online multplayer game and is much more complicated. It's also not just "shoot-and-spawn" type deathmath, it involves a lot of teamwork and thinking (it has lot of keys and menus to memorize).

Tribes..
Oh I can do that...memorize I mean...but how on earth are you supposed to get started if all you have is online stuff?

They both have single player training. Tribes 1's training sux.. There is not much to do. Tribes 2 has a nice training and u can set up a lan game with bots.

Yeah, like RenegadeKing pointed out, there is a single player training mode that lets you play against bots until you learn the game.

Load Tribes 1 and get the feel for the weapons and movement, then find the Blair Lag Project server. The regulars there are very helpfull to newbs.
