DVD playback problems
The video on my DVD is somewhat erratic. Even with brand new DVD's, it still skips and hesitates on occasion. Should this be expected? I spent a fairly large amount of cash to have this computer built and was expecting exceptional performance ( I was promised exellent video quality ). With 384 Megs of Ram and a 64 Mb video card shouldnt I be getting the quality I was promised or am I just expecting too much?

Are your running any programs in the background, specifically anti-virus software? If so, disable it and see if it still skips. Also, how are the drives arranged on the IDE chanels?

No anti-virus, only program of that sort is XP's built in firewall. And Im not sure about what you are asking about the channels. I can tell you that it appeared as though the man who set my system up overlooked a few things in the bios. Another tech at the shop caught a couple things as he was introducing me to windows XP.

Do you have DMA enabled for the DVD drive? if it is not the playback will be jerky regardless of the quality or speed of the drive.
