Question Video Card installation

I am trying to install a PCI VisionTek Xtasy 5332 Video Card on my computer. My old Video card was an AGP card but, since the AGP slot was only 1.0 compliant, an AGP card would not work. So I have opted for a PCI. I've been told by VisionTec and others on this site that a PCI will work. However, I am having problems installing it. When I hook up the new card to the monitor and boot up, my monitor stays black and goes into the sleep mode. I tried removing the old card from the device manager before I shut down and made the switch but still nothing. Would a shared PCI slot have anything to do with it? BIOS change? I cannot complete the installation. Any Ideas?

IBM Aptiva E Series 545 (2171-545/XX1).
Pent(R) III 450.
V66M MoBo w/Intel 82443ZX chipset.
BIOS:ACER V3.2 6M2EN5R 03/03/00.
BIOS was changed to disable onboard sound.
Slots (ISA/PCI/shared/AGP) 0/2/1/1.
AGP- Open (old vidio card)
PCI 1- New Video Card
PCI 2- Rockwell Modem
PCI 3- Philips PSC602 Sound card
ISA- Open
256 SDRAM

Thanks, Bozwth

Can you get to bios at all? It may be set to send data to the agp stead of the pci, as in video.
If I think up more Ill let ya know.
Dont give up!
