dual monitors

good day eh
a friend of mine got tired of 64x32 resolution at 16 color mode in UT, so he bought a geforce2mx 200 pci card. after removing the ati adapter in device manager i threw in the card and got it working. it worked without setting the disable onboard graphics jumper however. i got back in win98 and in device manager it listed the ati and standard graphics cards before i installed the mx200 drivers.

to make a long story short, is dual monitor support possible with the onboard and pci graphics? my friend does some design work where 2 monitors would be nice and i told him i'd ask around to see if it was possible.

thanks

im not sure but i know when i tried to install a second ati card in my computer it wouldnt work. we had a riva tnt2 32 meg running in the agp slot and then we had a crummy ati 16 meg with tv out ina pci slot, talk about issues. needless to say the ati card is sitting the bottom of the pile wiating for me to do something with it. oh well. im not sure about geforce and on board ati but i know mine didnt work......at all......blue screen of death many times. hey try it out you may have to disable the ati software or something like that, i heard somehting about that one time but im not to sure of the details, im sure some the more computer literate members can shed more light on this then i can

Hi Greedo,

Not sure if dual monitor will work with a PCI card and onboard graphics. Knowing the limitations of most onboard graphics, I would suspect not.
See these MS articles for details of multi-display.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q182708

http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q179602

They suggest that both cards (whether a combination of two PCIs or a PCI and an AGP) must be multi-display cards. There is no mention of onboard graphics.
