help...

I' have a friend creating a 3d game.. (yes he's a little nuts)
problem: he needs a code snippet to break down the 3ds file format.
...
when he imports a model into the game, he has to destruct the file format so it can be displayed.
he only has code for the md2 format.
where would we be able to find a snippet like that??/?
