Wondering if this software is a decent beginner software For photo editing and Graphics. I'm into learning. I bought it today but didnt open the box in case it was real tech challenging.
Must have an encylopedia in the box. Pretty damn heavy |

Hi hollywood,
I've been using Paint Shop Pro 5 since it came out and in my opinion PSP is the best graphics program. It's easier to use and learn than (much) more expensive programs like PhotoShop. It may not be as powerful in features as Photoshop, but it's perfect for average users. I definately suggest using it.

Once you learn the tool icons, it is a breeze to use. And with the cloning tool it is reall easy to impress people on the web by cloning your head onto Arnold's body. It doesn't have the fleshtone ability of Photoshop but you can get by this with the clone tool.

I'll second the ease of use on PSP 7. I've been using PSP since it came out and it's just great. Not too complicated and easy to figure out when you want to do something.
You also have the flexibility of saving your images in a multitude of formats. There are also a number of web pages that will provide step-by-step tutorials showing you how to do some of the neat things. One page I like in particular is located here: http://www.mannmadeimages.com/ |

I've been using various versions of PSP for years, and I have always liked it. Pretty easy to use and intuitive. Far cheaper than PhotoShop for pretty much the same features.

hollywood,
That image is an animated gif, which is just basically a series of gif images (like a flip book). You can't enlarge the animated gif itself, but what you can do is open the image with Animation Shop (comes with PSP) which will display the animation as a series of frames. You can then extract one frame, and elarge it. Or, you can enlarge all of the frames and then save it as a new animated gif. |
