aliasing problems in Medal of Honor Allied Assault please help
Posted: Sun Mar 17, 2002 10:40 pm Post subject: newbie needs advice on how to get rid of jagged edges in MOH
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi. I was curious on the matter of anti-aliasing in in MOHAA. I believe it's an open gl game. I love the game play, however, there are tons of jagged edges, or lots of aliasing going on. To me, this is really annoying, since when I played consoles like the PS2 and the Xbox I can barely see any of this aliasing going on in the first place. I put smoothvision on with my Radeon 8500 and put anti-aliasing in open gl up to 6x (with v-sync on/and with v-sync off) All that happened is I got slower frame rates with no reduction in aliasing. My question lies in this, is there no way this game can be as smooth and have little jagged edges like a console, or is there a way? All I want, is decent graphics with minimal aliasing. I thought the Radeon 8500 would knock the jaggies to minimal and create a more smooth, playable experience. I even tried upping the resolution to max but still saw major aliasing in the game. Basically, my two main concerns with PC gaming are this: frame rates that never drop below 60 no matter what is going on, and minimal aliasing(or jaggies). If anyone has some advice to kill aliasing in my current games, whether it be a tweak in this particular game or upgrading to a athlon xp 2000, I would greatly appreciate it. i really like this game, however the aliasing(or jaggies) is very noticable and tends to detract from my gaming experience. Games like Aliens versus Peredator Gold look a LOT better from a anti-aliasing standpoint. So, it this bad coding in the MOHAA game, or does anyone else have major jaggies(where if you move your mouse side to side and look at walls, buildings, edges it flickers cuz the aliasing is so bad) Would a GeForce 4 Ti4600 card with a AMD XP 2000 processor(and some DDRAM) make this game fly? I am at my wit's end and I just want a PC gaming experience that rivals a console. PC specs: AMD athlon 1 gig cpu ASUS A7V133 Socket A mobo KT133A chipset Radeon 8500 64mb vidcard (4.13.9009 drivers) Turtle Beach SantaCruz PCI sound card 512 megs of SDRAM Windows 98 SE Direct X 8.1(can't use 8.0 cuz my drivers for vid card need 8.1) |

Try setting the Ingame Color = to the desktop color bit !!
if you use 16 bit on your desktop use 16 bit in game (if its a OpenGL game) V-sync off and experement wiht the refresh rate of your monitor !! I use 75 Hz. i hoop you understand my crapy english. |

Without v-sync on in the game Medal of Honor, i get MAJOR image tearing(in order to get v-sync on in the game you have to enter a console command to do so). Is it my monitor you think?
