Warcraft II
I just installed the classic Warcraft II: Tides of darkness
Now the game runs fine and everything except that I am getting no video(intro) and no sounds from the game. I have gone to the setup and it says that there was an error when reading my sound card. When I am in windows and not in the game the sounds work fine. So I dont really know what to do. does anyone? |

Did you install Warcraft 2 or Warcraft 2 Battlenet Edition?
Warcraft 2 still uses DOS based sound cards, so if the DOS based emulation of your card is turned off, you'll get no sound in Windows. Not sure about your video issues. The Battlenet Edition was completely written for Windows systems. |

It is the normal warcraft II. If I played it directly from dos would I be able to have the sound? Is there any other way to get sound? If the solution would be to turn it on then how would I go about doing that? Thanks for your help Jenni

If you have DOS drivers for your sound cardx, you should be able to play from DOS. But, the easiest thing to do would be to go buy a copy of the Battlenet Edition. You can get it for like $10 at Wal-Mart. It's a better version of the game anyway.
