Direct X Problem

Hey Guys,
Does anyone know why my computer and my display freezes when I do the DirectX Test. My screen freezes when the bouncing square shows up and then I have to do force shutdown. I upgrade to DirectX 8.1 already. Does anyone know what's the cure or any suggestion, it's a pain to reinstall Windows. . Please help me thanks in advance.

Hi kulugo04,

You said you upgraded to DirectX 8.1. Did you also upgrade your video drivers to the latest version?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. DirectX is something I'm not real knowledgeable about, I just thought the video drivers might be the one obvious possibility. But, if you already upgraded them that kinda blows that idea out of the water doesn't it? Hope someone else can help you out with another idea to try. Good luck.

go to control panel/add remove/delete nvida video driver/restart computer/when computer says found new device "click no" let OS contiune to restart/restart computer again/again when computer says "found new device" click NO/if new nvdia drivers have self installing now install/if not go through "device mgr" to install. This should clear up any frame frezzes you may encounter.

You should follow this procedure each time after you install DX or when upgrading drivers for the best results.

Hope this helps.
