TV Sound OK, No Sys Sound

About a month ago, I installed the ATA Radeon All In Wonder Video card. It has been working well viewing with the TV option, recording MPEG 2 to the HDD, and playing back with the Player option. Recently I tried to enable sounds for my applications, and found that I had no sound. I went to Start-CP-Sound and MultiMedia, and had no sound card option to select. There is an external cable connection from the Radeon card to the sound card, which I assume is used for the sound for the TV. I don’t know if the Radeon has anything to do with the loss of the sound card. Could the sound card be using a function for the Radeon, and not working independently?
Next Radeon problem is with the DVD Player. When I try to play DVD I get an error that says that I don’t have a sound card, enough storage, and one other, which I don’t think has anything to do with this.
Bottom line:
no sound option available in Sound and MultiMedia window, no sound at all for the system- .wav, .midi, etc.
Radeon works well with TV and TV Playback, but not with DVD Player.
I would appreciate any help in isolating this problem to the Radeon card or the integrated sound on the motherboard.
Sony P4, 1.3Ghz, 140GB HDD, 512MB RAM, WinME
