Since you're into gaming, go with the MSI GeForce4 Ti4400.

Unusually I disagree with the good Doctor, go for a top of the range GF 3or if you can stall the favour wait till the more heavyweight GF 4's arrive

heidthebaw, usually I would agree with getting a high-end GF3 and saving for the newer GF4 later, but since someone else is buying it for him...

Buy PC format April addition.
Its got a small amount on the GF 4. It depends on how much you are in to tweakin'. If you just wanna play games GF 3 would be good. If you wanna push the limits of you PC and get the best possible graphics you will need to get GF4 Ti4400. ITs the dog dangleys. Not many games around yet to exploit all it potential. Its also not much good getting a great graphics card if the rest of your PC lets it down. |

My new unit (being built) is a 2.0 P4 with 512 DRAM and the new GF4 Ti4600.
Can hardly wait. The graphics demo I saw was a mind blower. |

I just got a 4600, and they are quick! It has to be said though that yer existing games don't stress it at all, and as such, some would see it as a waste of time. Overkill. Me? I see it as an investment thats waiting for the next generation of games.
Incidentally, those who saw all the posts about the GeForce 4 being not so good for the impending Doom III and Quake IV, well that was the GeForce 4 MX! Which as we now know is not the same architecture as the GeForce 4 Ti. The Ti4400 and Ti4600 are fine ( phew!). |

I'd say stay away from the MX series if you can... Any of the 4 ti's would be more than enough, although if it were ME I'd get the 4600 =)

Hi Allanv,
Your first line, "128Mb MSI Ti4400 GeForce 4 TV Out/Video In/DVI" would be your best bet of the one on the list. I would recommend to pass on the MX cards because the GF 4 MX cards ARE NOT true GeForce 4 cards!!! They're not even as good as a GF 3. They are crippled cards and do not support the features and instruction set of the GF 4. HTH TwoRails |
