Opion on a video card

I want a video card with at least 32mb ram on it, no less. Possible to 64mb.

The TV out is not necessary.
I only play games, alotta of games, mostly RTS, but occasionally i play FPS's, RPGS, and action/adventure games.

I dont really watch movies, I will do not have a DVD drive on my computer, but it might be a latter add on incase games start going to DVD format like PS2.

I need it to be good, but at the same time, cheap--below 150 if possible

I would say get the Radeon 8500, or wait a couple of weeks and grab the GeForce4 Ti4200. Both are fast, and have full support for DX8.1

I'm in favor of the Ti4200 too, looks like a great card. I'm considering upgrading my Geforce2 Pro 64mb with one of these.

ATI OEM RADEON 7500 64MB DDR AGP (which is considerable cheaper)

Either would be good for your use, I have the Raedon 7000 and it works very very well........depending on what type of agp slot you have if it is a 4x or 2x you should be good, personally i would go with the 8500, but the 7500 is good as well, and you could save money to upgrade your system to be totally ddr if you haven't already done so....

IMHO, your purpose will not be served by the Radeon 7500. I owned one and was not pleased with it's performance. Picture quality is good, but nothing that the Geforce cards are incapable of doing. The card isn't that fast and doesn't have all the features that the geforce 3/4 cards have. Go with nvidia.

I agree with Werewolfdaddy, I would get a Geforce before I got a Radeon. And, yes, I own a Radeon. I keep it because I occasionally use the VIVO features. If I didn't, I'd buy a Geforce 3 or 4 in a heartbeat.

I've seen all the benchmarks saying the new Radeons can hang with the Geforces, but I don't believe it, not when it comes to gaming anyway. Watching DVD's, Radeon's can't be beat. But gaming, Geforce's kick some seroius booty!

is any Geforce card good if it has the MX in the name?

Like the Geforce 4 MX440 becuase its only 104 dollars
or this one for 109 dollars

Asus V8170 DDR Geforce 4 MX440 DDR 64mb
TV outThe V8170DDR leverages the GeForce4 MX DDR GPU with 64MB DDR SDRAM to provide competitive performance and value for mainstream PCs. Core clock speed runs at 270MHz and memory clock speed is 400MHz. Some GeForce 4 MX DDR technologies included are: Lightspeed Memory Architecture II, nView, and Accuview Antialiasing

The Geforce 4 MX cards aren't true Geforce 4's. They are more like souped up Geforce 3's. The MX series of cards are the value editions.

If you want a NICE card, check out the Geforce 3 TI series. You can get a Visiontek Extasy Geforce 3 TI 200 for $165 from www mwave.com and www.newegg.com has the Gainward/Cardex version of the same card for $129
