Help- Can't make CounterStrike upgrade work
Ok, the shakes aren't too bad, yet. They got an update for Counter Strike which has prevented me from playing, I downloaded it several times from different sites, but I can't open it.
When I click on it, the dialogue box with a white X surrounded by a red circle says: C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\Go!Zilla Downloads\cs10031004.exe is not a valid Win32 application. It's not a self-executable, but StuffIt Expander can't open it either. I think it's got something to do with having to open it with DOS.... When I go to Properties for the file, I don't see any of the boxes checked- Read-only, Hidden, Archive and System is grayed out. Could that have anything to do with it? How do I open this file and install it? Thanks for the advice. Tim

No replies yet- feeling hopeless
Am wondering if I ticked enough people off from General Forum debate that I'm not getting a response....
Or maybe I'm so ignorant in the eyes of those who've seen this post that they don't want to respond. ![]() Or maybe Friday's a bad day to get advice.... Tim |

Well, I got the updates no problem. All i can suggest is delete the bad file, re-download from another server to a different location and try again. Good Luck!

I notice you are using Gozilla.
I used to have the same sort of problem with Gozilla, so much that I changed to DAP. I have downloaded CS1.4 update and it works fine. As Orcmonkey suggests, try another mirror and see what happens. Why not try a new download manager too? |

I've tried other mirrors with same results. It's gotta be Gozilla then. I've used it for years. Hope DAP is as reliable and perhaps, not such a nosy ad-ware piece like Gozilla.
I'm off to search for DAP- thanks, guys. Tim |

It's good to know that your prob is solved, Timpoet. And also that you got rid of Gozilla. I used to use it some time ago, until I started having problems like the one you had. Plus, I disliked Gozilla when I found out that it secretly installed spyware probs in my PC. When I used AdSubstract SE to eradicate the spyware, Gozilla stopped working.
I tried GetRight then, but had also probs with it. So I downloaded and installed Download Express. It's light, fast, easy to use and has no spyware. It's a jewel you should check out if you start having problems with your actual downloads manager again.Download Express
