Voodoo 3 refresh

Think it started right around the time directx 7.0a came around but I am not sure. Problem is when I switch resolutions from within some games it drops me to the desktop. I can switch resolutions from within windows just fine. I can also switch colors from within windows. But if I want to play certain games I have to make sure that I set the desktop to the right res and colors first. I have the new certified drivers for my voodoo 3 2000. I am not overclocking anything and I have reinstalled the drivers and also since then upgraded to windows me with a clean install with only one set of fresh video drivers and only one copy of directx 7.1 that came with windows me. I have cotacted my mainboard and 3dfx and I didn't get a very usefull response if any at all. Please help, I plan on using my meager video card for at least another six months, but this is very anoying. Thank you, DarkAgeTat2
