I know for a fact that ALOT of people have the original Quake. I also know that there is an addon that optimizes Quake for 3D cards (GL Quake). I was amazed to find out however that not alot of people know about it or just don't bother to take a peek at it. Well I tried it about 2 months ago, and believe me... it is well worth downloading!

Light sources look much better, textures are more detailed, pretty much every aspect of the original quake was made better in some way or another.

Anyone interested in downloading the latest version of GL Quake must first of all have the "Full" version of Quake (not the downloaded demo version), and must have a 3d capable video card. That's it. That's all you need to get what seems like a brand new Quake. You can download it from here.
Anyone currently using it and anyone who downloads it and is surprised, please post and tell the rest of us about it!
Werd to your mother.

GLQuake was my first experience with the dramatic difference a 3D card can make (this was several years ago). My system was a P233 with a Voodoo I 4 mg card. Couldn't believe the difference. Been hooked on 3D gaming since then. The original Quake was a great game-- plenty of add-ons (ever use the Cujo add-on?) and additional levels that could be downloaded. My son was playing GLQuake just last week on the old system.

The link above is for GLQuake 1.13 which adds bump mapping and fog to the game! It's a brand new version and makes you want to play it all over again!

Great isn't it! I wish I could express how cool it was to try it out with 3D support... and the bump mapping...... damn! It made it worth while to play from beginning to end again after all these years! We'll have to hook up soon and do a little Quake fragging soon Prader Willi!

I'd be up for that. I've never played Quake Multiplayer-- do you set it up like Quake II-- or do you use Quakeworld?

Cool

One of my favourite add-ons for quake 1 is the omicron bot, it plays great for offline multiplayer games, get it from here:-

Yeah actually I used it about 3 days ago... what kind of problems did you have with it?
