I am trying to troubleshoot a "joystick not connected" message I ran into last night. In device manager I have the joystick listed under "Creative Miscellaneous Devices", but not under "Sound, Video and Game Cotrollers".
Could somebody with a joystick set up check to see how theirs shows in Device Manager?
Any other help apprecitated. By the way, I got the message even when trying a second joystick. The first joystick worked incorrectly for a while, then I got the message "not connected".

It's only going to show up in Creative Miscellaneous Devices. I have a Thrustmaster Top Gun Flight Stick and it shows up like yours does.
Make sure you callibrate it in control panel, and also make sure you try it in another machine. It could end up being a problem with the game port on your sound card or possibly a problem with directx.

You could start by running dxdiag.exe in your Program Files/DirectX folder. Or you could just re-install DX.

You may be having problems with the game port drivers on your sound card. Try removing the sound card from device manager and rebooting and re-installing the sound card drivers.
