Flat panel screens.
Are they any good for a fantastic gaming experience? Any much better than a .24 pitch CRT monitor? Thanks for any input, TimPoet

Hello,
it depends. The TFT has to be fast enough (keep the response time as low as possible, i.e. 25ms or below). Usually only the more expensive models can accomplish this. Cheap TFTs are not that fast. My own TFT has 50ms. I can play games very well and even CRT owners were fascinated about my TFT and they only wanted to play games on it. Anyway, a small difference to a CRT can be noticed. My TFT is good, but it's already 2 years old. For a new TFT, I wouldn't get anything with 35ms and more. Also a tip: Avoid Viewsonic. Although, for example the VG191, has a respone time of 25ms, it blurs alot. Look at monitors from Samsung and Eizo. In either case make sure that you can exchange the device if you don't like it. Should we avoid Viewsonic in CRTs too, or only in LCDs? TIA

At work, they just got a bunch of Samsung 150mp's and 170's. They are so nice, but They wouldn't let me take one home and play with it. So I don't know the capablities. IT did have pic in pic though. I wonder if it will run a dual head, one on the main screen, one on the PIP?
My vote still goes with the .24 Sony trititron. or any other flat screen CRT. BC |
