DiabloII/Software Expert needed!

Hello:

I was running XP and down graded back to windows 98 SE. Before switching I had been getting errors. So I thought that after switching that they would go away. They didn't! I have two game installed DiabloII and Mech Warrior 4.

The errors look like this:

(d2 error)
UNHANDLE EXCEPTION:
Access violation (c0000005)

(mw4 error)
Exception
Access violation mw4: (tox2E64bb)

I believe that it is a software issue but just in case:

MSI turbo2
Athlon XP 1600+
30gig Maxtor
win98 SE
256mb sdram

Thanks in advance for your help

Were those the same probs you were getting in XP? Have you downloaded and installed the latest patches for the games? Do you have other games installed? Do they work fine?

I have that problem while overclocking and with RAM that's failing, D2 will expose marginal problems on your system.

There is no such thing as a VIA BIOS, if you are not overclocking then Blizzard's suggestion is to re-install D2, if a re-install doesn't fix it I would look at the RAM.

Heat NOOOOOOOOOOO

Hello:

I figured out the problem good right? Well no its not its a heat problem I've got the prosser as seen below and a front and side fan any suggestions? I would like to run it with my panels on as of now box fan cooled.

Please give me any suggestions!

I'm a new-b and have no idea about heat

my prossecor uses thermaltake volcanoe and fans stated above.

Thanks in advance for any help that you offer;0

1. What ARE your CPU temperatures?

2. Have you TRIED different RAM?

Hmmm

Hello:

I've got 'er narrowed down to two items. I thinks it may be heat but am now leaning toards a RAM issue. I tried both sticks problems. I tried one stick nothing. I played five hours strait last night with both sticks and then it decided to crap out on me. I thought ram messed up right away? Maybe it is another underlying issue? Is there a scan thingy I can down load to see if my system is working ok?

Looks like now I need a RAM expert? I honestly don't think it is heat now. And here is another reason that I forgot to mention when I installed XP (I had just one stick then) I played D2 all the time (offline because RAM requirements are too high) hours at a time! I then bought another 128 off a friend and then I couldn't use my computer for a while (busy). So I think it was the ram I purchased. I'm going to save up and go to newegg and get a 512 stick of somthin' good.

As for heat temps my bios reads at 40 C which is I know is cool, but that was idle and I still need to get a rear fan and paste!

Thanks Please if you think that it may be something else give me a reply.

40 C is fine - it's looking more like ram issues. If you want to be sure, just buy your ram directly from Crucial, it's gonna work and if it doesn't it has a lifetime warranty.
