Best aperture size
What is the best value for the AGP aperture size? I currently have 256 MB of RAM in my PC. TIA

Why is half of system ram a good amount to set the AGP aperture size? What exactly does this do. I have always wondered about that.

That may be so that it should take less aperture for more agp mem on board, but 3dmark usually gets a higher score if you open up to 128 or thereabouts. That's if you have the mem and use a card with 64 megs. Try and see.

I played with settings of 32, 64, 128, and 256Mb with my ATI AIW Radeon 64Mb and found from 32Mb to 64Mb, 3DMark2001 scores only went up 17 points. From 64Mb to 128Mb to 256Mb, there was no change.

My motherboard only has 64 and 256 agp aperture size and there was no difference in 3dmark scores.

mgs - that's onboard video that uses system ram instead of its own video ram. The more the merrier but I wouldn't set it to 32 unless I had at least 192 megs system ram.
