Help GeforceMX420 Freeze
Ahh can somone help me i bought a Visiontek Extasy Geforce4 MX420 PCI .. a few months ago the store has a 14 day return policy lifetime waranty from manufacturer.... I installed the card and the graphics are great but stabillity it freezes all the time in C&C Renegade and almost everygame
even in windows.. what do i do. I have Windows Xp Home and 256 RAM and ..ASUS TUSI-M socket 370 Motherboard SIS 630ET AGP Chipset i allready disabled the onboard card i built this computer myself few weeks before i got the card ran fine before and i dont want to take it in for a $25 scan thing.. id rather find out here sofar the suport for my card they didnt do anything they told me normal stuff ive allready tried.............I FEEL LIke i have bought a crappy azz graphix card i cant figure out how to get my money back ... its past return but not warranty.. hmm.. please help , Mike |

First, did you install the DirectX 8.1 and the latest Detonator drivers from nVidia's site? |

i tried the ones from nvidia.com didnt help so i got.. the ones from visiontek didnt help.. il try getting direct x8.1 again but i allready have it

Hey Mike I just bought the same card as you and I'm having the same exact problem. Find out what IRQ your card is in through the card properties. Mine is in 5, and the people at VisionTek said I need to put it in IRQ 10 or 11. Right now I am in the process of finding out how. Some people said to move the card to different slots so I'll try that and tell you what happens.

IRQ *10 i set it to 11 didnt help i reinstalled RENEGADE didnt help froze from the start never doesn online though ... im starting to hate GEFORCE.. shoulda waited and got a TI... still it shouldnt do what its doing i think its having a problem with open GL i dont knwo cuz hitman codename 47 runs perfecto on full DIRECT3D i havnt tried it on anything else.. on hitman.. anyway its really pissing me off.., Please help// mike

Hey Mike, I just found out it didn't help me either. So I sent another E-Mail to VisionTek saying that didn't work, when I get a message back I'll tell you what they said. Also did you uninstall your previous drivers? I didn't because I don't know how, that may be the problem.
